Barbados Lottery Brings More Excitement to Soca Monarch Competition

Bridgetown, Barbados – August 2, 2019: The Barbados Lottery Entertainment Lounge was buzzing with excitement at this year’s Soca Monarch Finals, the most anticipated competition of the Crop Over Festival, recently at the National Botanical Gardens.

“Barbados Lottery’s sponsorship marks our reaffirmation of our company’s commitment to our native Caribbean culture and tradition. It is a part of who we are,” stated Shelly Ann Hee Chung, Site Operations Manager at Barbados Lottery as the Gardens hosted thousands of happy revelers who gathered to cheer on their favourite Soca Monarch. Many also took the opportunity to try their luck in the special game promotion whereby players who spent $20 or more had the chance to Spin the Wheel and win branded lottery merchandise such as Folding Chairs, Umbrellas, Mugs and Water Bottles. Regular lottery games and tickets were also sold in the Barbados Lottery Entertainment Lounge.

“It is just wonderful for Barbados Lottery to be a part of this national cultural event that brings together locals and visitors for some great Caribbean music and performances”, said Site Operations Manager at Barbados Lottery, Shelly Ann Hee Chung, who added that “viewership (via Pay Per View) by many thousands in the Diaspora brought the enjoyment to the rest of the world.”

Michael “Mikey” Mercer was crowned Soca Monarch 2019 at the Finals. He was a favourite coming into the contest alongside last year’s Soca Monarch “Lil Rick” who came in second.
